I know why you are not reading this book---but you should

I eagerly awaited the release of Crimson Footprints II, was thrilled when I saw it was available for pre-order. Until I read the synopsis, LIZZIE. Why would Ms. Pugh waste her talent on Lizzie, the one character i could care less if she never got a HEA.
I broke down and read the sample, Lizzie is still up to her old tricks, pun intended. I can't do it. In a moment of weakness I order the book telling myself if I despise it I can always return it. What I forgot and you must remember is Shewanda Pugh is a good writer, a very good writer.
In the first scene of the book between Lizzie and Kenji he says everything to her that you or I would if we were given a chance. He reads her the riot act until she is broken, but still standing. It's reminiscent of the scene is "Eight Miles" when Eminem defuses his opponent in the "rap a thon" by pointing out every insult that could be used against him - himself. Now that we're defused, Ms. Pugh takes us on a journey to rediscover Lizzie, that left me wondering why I had been so judgmental.
Another reason you really want to read this book. If you loved Tak Tanaka in the first book, be prepared to fall in love with him all over again. This time as the mature husband, father, brother & son. Also some issues from the first novel are resolved in ways that lead to a new understanding.
When you're done you will cherish this book, just like you did the first one.

Great sequel

This series is awesome! I ended book one hating Lizzie, and found myself rooting for her in the sequel. There was growth in the characters from the last book. I loved the fact that Deena and Tak's relationship felt real because of the peaks and valleys we saw. I don't want to give too much away but Mrs. Pugh did an excellent job and I look forward to reading more of her work.

THE AUTHOR CONTINUES TO SHINE IN THIS ONE!

This story, as was the case in the first book of this series, points out all of the complexities of life and the conflicts that can arise when people, who have been tossed into a difficult existence, try to mix the extreme pleasures and pains of living- in hopes of coming up with happily ever after. Sometimes it's like trying to mix oil and water.
When you take the pain and hopelessness of the impoverished and couple it with the comfort and prosperity of the rich, the story which can be told will be one of interest and intrigue. The author measures up to the task and delivers an emotional tale of poverty, wealth, family, love and romance.
Shewanda Pugh brings back many of the same characters we met in her first book and she does it with exceptionally fine tuned writing skills- which is a huge credit to her and her continued success as a writer. She continues to excel as an author and I predict that she will keep climbing up those best seller lists.
