The Book offers a brief overview of Ernesto "Che" Guevara and the movie on him by Steven Sodenberg. It was helpful for me to understand a little about and go ahead with other books of him and on him.

Well-written but biased

This short biography is well-written but extremely biased against America and Capitalism. The author condemns the U.S. as evil capitalist imperialists while extoling the praises of violent and brutal dictators like Fidel Castro as heroes of the people, going as far as calling democratic elections "ridiculous." If you think violent Socialist revolution is the key to liberty, then you'll appreciate the author's viewpoint. I wouldn't recommend this book, though, because the political view it promotes is highly flawed and dangerous to true liberty. Che Guevera may be seen as a hero by naive, idealistic or Socialist readers, but in reality, his revolution only led Cuba from one oppressive regime to another. The real chance for opportunity comes not through forced Socialism or Communism, but through a democratic Republic, of, by, and for the people.

A GREAT WAY FOR KIDS TO LEARN ABOUT THE BIRTH OF THE US

This well written narrative relates the lives of Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, and Madison. The introductory passages read like biographies. Readers learn how Madison, Washington and Franklin were born in this country , but Hamilton came from the West Indies. They had different views on politics. Hamilton and Franklin wanted a strong central government. Madison and Jefferson envisioned a nation of farmers. Hamilton favored a strong central bank and foresaw an industrial society. The book is filled with details showing their human qualities. Myths are dispelled , and pictures depict the site and weapons used where Hamilton was shot in a pistol duel . This book is recommended for ages 7-9, but I think it more appropriate for 9+, Teachers , parents, and students will find this selection a valuable learning tool and an enjoyable reading experience.

Fell short compared to book one...

After finishing reading book one ( which was a five star book) I wanted to keep on reading the series. I was sorely disappointed with book two. The characters were not as strong as Cass and Dallas were in book two. Gemma's desire to keep hiding her past from Callum just made her character weak. Callums controlling and overbearing ways made him unlikeable. There wasn't enough in the development of their relationship to make their love for each other believable either.

The first book in the series was engaging and well written. This one, though, is neither. The heroine is immature, unwilling to communicate, and defensive. The hero is controlling and emotionally abusive. Neither is likeable ,nor is there a connection between them. All in all, a waste of time and money.

I'm not going to write a book report, others do that very well, but I want to always reward a well written story and a talented author. With all the hacks flooding the ebook market we all must be sure to leave a review for the good books.

If you want a nice, well crafted, old fashion love story - with some modern day heat - this author delivers.

SUPERB FANTASY ROMANCE!

Get ready for the second thrilling installment, DRAGONBOUND in Jade Lee's superb fantasy romance Dragon series for Love Spell (April 2009) with the chapters alternating between the childhood past and adult present day of its unique hero and heroine. In the magical land of Ragona, 12-year-old Sabina is commanded by her jeweler father to become the next dragonmaid to the copper dragon of the evil ruler, Dag Racho in order for her family to gain royal favor. Sabina's head is shaved since the dragon's fire would only singe her hair off and she is condemned to a life of servitude - taking care of the dragon, Cordain's every need including cleaning up his dragon poop! She has no friends since a dragonmaid's job is so isolated. At first she hates Cordain but since he is her only companion a friendship builds between them. Even though Cordain can't talk to Sabina, she is able to soar mentally with him to get away from the cruel control by Dag Racho they both share. When Sabina is a teenager, Dag Racho seduces her in front of Cordain which is very upsetting to him. In present day, Dag Racho has been killed and Cordain's spirit has miraculously inhabited Dag Racho's body. However, his dragon memories are dim of his past with Sabina and magical powers. Sabina goes after Cordain and finds him in the clutching caves since she needs his help to fight Ragona's enemies. Unfortunately looking like her abuser, Dag Racho does not endear Cordain to her heart and they have a rocky road to conquering their enemies and finding their destiny together! superb romantic fantasy

In Ragona when she was ten years old her parents condemned Sabina to madness and an early death by volunteering her to be the next Dragonmaid. Sabina and the royal enslaved copper dragon Cordain bond starting with their mutual loathing of her parents. Over time their affinity grows stronger to a deep abiding love even as their link increasingly makes it difficult for the evil Dag Racho to control the beast.

When Racho is killed, Cordain's soul becomes caught inside the detestable man's corpse. Sabina searches for her dragon and finally finds Cordain, but he has lost much of his memory. Without him soaring above in the sky protecting the people, their emboldened enemies begin to attack. Only the return of the dragon can save Ragona, but Sabina believes the cost is her heart and soul.

DRAGONBOUND is a superb romantic fantasy in which "Now" and "Then" rotate giving the audience the present day psychological well being of the lead characters and the past that led to their emotional issues that leave a kingdom in trouble if either fails to act. The story line is fast-paced, a tribute to the great Jade Lee as even the changing time frame never decelerates the plot. Fans will relish Sabina's adventures flying with Cordain over Ragona as Ms. Lee provides another excellent character driven thriller.

Another Fantastic Dragon Book!

I read Dragonborn when it released last year and thought it was a wonderful new fantasy romance. I had hoped that there would be more in this exciting new world, and was elated when I first came across Dragonbound.

Dragonbound expands on previous characters in Dragonborn, Sabina and the Copper, Cordain. We learn more of the past with Jaseen, Natiya and her dragon scholar parents. I was a little worried when I began reading and noticed every other chapter went back in time retelling Sabina's years as a dragonmaid. But the set-up was perfect. You get such an in-depth look at Sabina and the Emporor Dag Racho, and the bond that is slowly formed over the many years that Sabina was the dragonmaid to the copper, Cordain.

Jade Lee is an amazing fantasy romance author. I am so glad she stepped into this genre. I hope to see more in this wonderful world. This may be a fanstasy world with dragons, dragon eggs, and lands ready to war with one another, but the focus remainded heavily on the characters. Sabina's growth as she went from child to woman, the life she lived, and suffered, was so tragic and so well-told. Jade Lee has a fabulous writing voice that sucks you into the story, makes you feel what the characters feel.

Dragonborn and Dragonbound are two awesome and imaginitive books. Jade Lee's take on dragons and their relationship with humans is refreshingly original and it would be truly sad if there were no more in this series.

Another Winner From Delphi!

This is probably the 12th or so edition of these Delphi collections I've purchased. I now buy them automatically when a favorite author is released. Simply the best formatting and presentation for public domain works by classic authors. Proper formatting, clickable table of contents, numerous illustrations, scholarly reference materials and affordable prices, you can't go wrong.

Great works

This Kindle E book is set up well. Has TOC and illustration that one can see and, add to the experience. True though, that Mary Shelley is from another time and place so, sometimes, the dialogue seems a bit "Shakesperian" over the top.

I am still reading this book however, am enjoying Mary Shelley's works.

Thanks to those that took the time to do this E book right.

A Romance to fall into heart-first

If you want to fall in love, head over heels, with a fictional character, read this book, you'll love all of them. And the story? It's astonishingly clever, funny and suspenseful, smart and romantic. I didn't have one boring moment while reading this book, and I read it on my way home from work, when I'm usually tired and annoyed. There's a narrative to this story that makes you fall into it head-first, followed by heart and mind. You get to be a part of the whole thing, feeling like every character, mellowing in their sweetness and love. Tearing up in their pain and sorrow and enjoying each of their moments.
And outside the house, Echo seems like the kind of place I'd go for a drink, but then there's outside Des' house, with all the wolves camping? I'd go spend a while out there, getting to know them.
I could imagine every place described and I got to meet each character in my mind. Emotions were so well described I had chills running up and down my spine almost permanently.
The author has a fluid style in her writing and a captivating narrative. I can't wait for her next book!!!

Just when you think you know yourself...

Things happen that you can't explain. Abby has a good life. Not much to it, but she's making due. Things change one night when she gets a creepy customer. When the creepy customer confronts her on her way home from work, she is rescued by Desmond. Then things turn weird. Abby finds out that not only is her rescuer a vampire--yes, they do exist--but she's not exactly human either. As if that's not enough, Abby has the king of all demons after her for her blood, and he's not wanting just a sip...he wants it ALL.

Abby and Desmond are very well written characters that seem to jump out at you from the very first words. Add in a vampire brother for Des, a snarky best friend for Abby, a few werewolves (one with a serious case of Des hero-worship) and you have a wonderful story complete with humor, anger, sadness and romance. Can't wait to read the next in this series...

Just plain sexy...

I'm not afraid to admit that although the story sounded really interesting. I didn't like the cover, and let's admit it, we do judge books by their covers. I'm not a big lusty cover kinda girl. So it took me a minute to get passed the cover, but once I did, I loved the story.

Darlene does an amazing job at weaving the supernatural world together with the real world. This is one of those books that make you wonder, "what if that happened to me?" We all need more books like that, the ones that make us take a moment from our lives and use our imaginations. Remember, that thing in your skull is good for something other than mathematical equations. Sometimes you can use it to create fantastical things. Thank you, Darlene for something that helps that underworked part of our brains. :)

The story was well written, the character development and arcs was great. I must say that my eyes kind of glaze over when I read romance novels through the sex scenes- it's just not my thing, but there are SO many amazing stories out there that have the lusty scenes that my mind just turns a blind eye. Yes, this book has sex scenes, they add the sexiness that many associate with vampires, but for me, the story was sexy. Darlene has a gift for writing that brings her reader into the world and makes them feel like they are right there with her characters.

This is the first story I've read from her, but I hope she has a lot more out there! I'd love to read them- even if it means I have some brain glazing over moments. I love the story!

I recommend this for paranormal romance lovers. It's a good read!

And the projects are centered around repurposing keepsakes, leftover craft projects, stuff from your junk drawer, and even packaging materials. It is great for crafters of all skill levels. This colorful, idea-filled, how-to craft book introduces a new way of looking at everyday found objects in our lives. Ellen Spector Platt is a gifted collage artist, but she's not a snob when it comes to finding and choosing the raw material for her canvases. I love the countless ideas in the pages of her new book, Artful Collages from Found Objects. She encourages the reader-artist to look at "junk and treasured objects" as ingredients for creativity, and she demonstrates specific application and design techniques to turn 2- and 3-dimensional items into something beautiful for the frame. If you are thinking of starting collage making- read this book.
It describes the materials; glue, brushes, frames, techniques and display options to make the best of your artwork.

If you are an experienced collage artist- read this book.
It has innovative design ideas and the completed projects have a surreal style, which manages to be simultaneously weird and cheerful. The photographs are excellent.

If you care not for collage but hate to see waste- read this book.
Humble garbage transformed to things of beauty, very life affirming.

If neither collage nor recycling excite you but you enjoy a good tale well told- read this book.
Its humanity and humor are a delight.

This is a beauty of a book! Love the personal stories that make it seem like anyone can let their creative side run a little wild without emptying the wallet on supplies. Tons of photos and tips for projects. Like having a good humored art teacher cheering you on. Can't wait to try my second project--my first was a hit as a gift.
