Ms Amazing scowled at her. If what she said was true, she'd just wasted her valuable time over nothing. Besides, her last comment reminded her of Armand Germaine, and his threat. She sighed gustily, and then bent over and opened the suitcase.

"Let's find out, shall we?" she said.

Really, she'd never done this before. She always let the police confirm the evidence, but she didn't want to embarrass herself by calling them in for nothing. Besides, though she didn't like to admit it, she knew what cocaine tasted like.

The suitcase was filled with brick-shaped plastic bags. She thrust a long, thin stiletto heel into one, licked the tip of her glove's right pinky, and touched it to the white powdery substance. Then she touched the tip of her tongue to it.

"Uggghhh!" she cried, and Danica burst out laughing. "Aaaggggghh!"

Amazingly hot superheroine story

This was one of the best superheroine erotica I've ever read. JK Waylon has managed to create a world with some amazingly well thought out rules that lead to plenty of steamy heroines in peril. The writing was solid, the narration well paced, and the sexy stuff feeling like it perfectly belonged in the world the author has created.

It was so close to a five star review but two things held it back, one technical and one something subjective on my part. The technical aspect was the occasional typo's. There were definitely nothing out of the norm for an erotica ebook, but they were distracting in a work that was otherwise amazingly written (see what I did there?). The second thing was that the sex scenes weren't long enough or frequent enough for my taste, but I know that is something most erotica readers differ on. I'm not saying there was a lack of sex, and the author manages to keep an underlining level of heat running through the story, I was just left wishing for a little more.

This isn't very erotic and is mostly about fighting and escapes. There is almost no plot and the characters are stereotypes. There are much better books in this series. Avoid this one.

A few thoughts after finishing Devoured.

1. Lucas. Holy Hotness Batman, that man was my favorite kind of uber-alpha hero. He was beyond yummy and definitely the reason I read this one so quickly.

2. This book was shorter than I expected, and in many ways certain parts of the story felt a bit rushed while other times i found myself thinking 'okay, let's get on with it.' In fact, i would have to say that 75% of this book was build-up...which is fine, but I would be lying if I didn't admit that i kinda wished we had more (a lot more) Si/Lucas time and less of the cat & mouse game. Having said that, *SPOILER WARNING* when Si finally does decide to give herself completely to Lucas their love scene was well done...if a little short and less descriptive than I would have liked. I mean come on...considering this book is about a man obsessed with the idea of this woman being his submissive, I was expecting a LOT more in the sex scene dept. Not exactly Fifty Shades kind of descriptive, but...just more. In all honesty it felt a little like Snow wanted to gloss over the actual love scene and focus instead on the unconventional love story she was building up to. Which is totally fine. Just being honest with what my expectations were going into this.

3. There were several typos, but nothing out of the ordinary for a self-published book.

4. Okay, one thing that really did bug me? WHY is it that every time I read a book like this (i.e. alpha male Dom tries to get a hesitant woman to be his submissive) there is ALWAYS a psycho ex girlfriend/wife/lover etc in the man's past?!? I mean it is in every freaking one of these books I have read. GAH!!!

5. But in the end....none of my little nit-picky problems with this book really matter because I truly loved this story overall, and I have 2 words for you...THE. ENDING. Probably one of my favorite endings I have read all year. It was sooo well done and perfect. And even though I am thrilled that Si & Lucas' story is going to continue, I would have been okay with this being a standalone, simply because of the beautiful ending.

I was not devoured

With a title like Devoured and all the glowing reviews I expected so much more. I liked the idea behind the story and the idea of the plot. Still do, thought the set up for Sienna going to work for Lucas was well done. But that was about it. What I found most annoying about this book was the lack of any sort of reasoning behind the relationship. For this type of book I want to feel the tension, the heat, the angst. I want to understand why she has a love hate thing for him and why she fights it. But, it just was not their for me. They both kept talking about this undeniable attraction and pull, but don't just explain that it is there, show me, so I can feel it. I did not feel their attraction, and I did not feel much heat. In all honesty I found Sienna to be quite a cold character. Lucas was okay, but his reasoning for wanting Sienna, um I found a bit lame. As for the sex scenes, pretty tame compared to other books out there at the moment. There is to be a sequel, don't think I will bother.
Will I read it again? No
Would I recommend it? NO there are better one out there

Not the best.....

I really wanted to like this book. I love tattooed alpha male rockers. I like a little BSDM mixed in with a love story. But this book didn't have much of a story. The characters, Sienna and Lucas were not well developed. I couldn't figure out how or when they met and why it was so earth shattering. I thought the 10 day deal described in Devoured would be a little like Insufferable Proximity by Z. Stefani, which I absolutely loved. But no way! The story short of jumped around - I couldn't figure out who Sam was or Cilla. Just didn't make sense.

"The Adventures of Cefa the Cat, Norman Joins the Group" is a fun bedtime story. If you can't read yet, have your Mom or Dad read it to you. A Life-Changing Book---Highly Recommended!

I highly recommend this inspiring book to anyone interested in taking charge of their own health. It is a real gem! The author describes, in detail, her amazing recovery from Parkinson's Disease using the energy-based practice of qigong. I do NOT have Parkinson's, but I do have a laundry list of many serious, chronic health conditions for which standard medical treatment offers only temporary symptomatic relief and does very little to prevent further deterioration. Thus, my interest in exploring alternative healing methods, such as qigong.

I have sporadically practiced various types of qigong, for many years--but have never committed to a lengthy, daily practice (the author recommends 3 hours or more) until I read this book. Reboot and Rejoice is like having a personal "healing coach" at your side to educate, encourage, hold-your-hand, and inspire you to get started NOW with a serious, disciplined practice. She recognizes that many of us, in need of such a practice, tend to put it off for another day. She flat-out challenges us with statements such as, "Why not try a time-out for jump-starting recovery? How about a good three months? Three months of several daily hours of qigong to attempt to re-wire a lifetime of neurological overload does not seem unreasonable." And then she proceeds to give us a very clear, easy-to-follow roadmap of how to structure such a dedicated practice.

Bianca Molle has an undeniable passion for the subject of self-healing. She walks her talk and generously shares her ever-growing experiences, knowledge and insights with her readers. Reboot and Rejoice is definitely a "must have" for anyone interested in self-healing with qigong. Thank you, Bianca, for writing such a practical and empowering book!

This is a great arrangement of a beloved classic for violin and piano, but definitely not for Beginners and even some Intermediate players. This is very challenging music, but at the same time, great. :)

Wonderful! Technical and challenging, but rewarding

I've only played violin for a year and I was able to play 3 of the "songs" from this medley within a few practice sessions. Yes, to play the entire song will take a degree of mastery that comes with practice (she plays in the 3rd and 4th position on the Phantom songs).
Overall very close, if not exactly as she plays it (minus the guitar and drums of course).
Now if only Amazon carried her MP3 of this song.

James Buchanan (1804–1870) was a Scottish minister and theologian. He joined the Free Church of Scotland in 1843, and succeeded Thomas Chalmers as professor of systematic theology at the New College of the Free Church in Edinburgh in 1847, a post he held for twenty-one years.

Buchanan's magnum opus was The Doctrine of Justification, which still has great value as a classic treatment of the article by which Martin Luther says the church stands or falls. He covers biblical, systematic, and historical ground in his work, but is never far from a warm-hearted evangelical delight in the doctrines he is expounding.

The doctrines of election, of effectual calling, regeneration, and repentance, of adoption, of prayer, of the church, the ministry, and the sacraments, have all to be interpreted and understood in the light of justification by faith. When justification falls, all true knowledge of the grace of God in human life falls with it, and then as Luther said, the church itself falls.

The value of Buchanan's book today is that it will help us to understand this message better, and so to preach it in the full and comprehensive way in which the modern world needs to hear it.' --J.I. Packer

About the Author
Although James Buchanan became known to posterity as a theologian mainly through two of his books, 'The Office and Work of the Holy Spirit' and 'The Doctrine of Justification' (both re-published by the Banner of Truth Trust) it was as a preacher of unusual power and ability that he first made his name.

He studied theology under Dr. Thomas Chalmers in Edinburgh, and in 1827, at the age of 23, was ordained to the ministry at Roslin, near Edinburgh. A year later he was translated to a large church at North Leith which he soon filled to overflowing, his preaching being noted for its fulness and clarity as well as for its flights of impassioned oratory. One of his hearers, who had been to India, thought that his preaching was of the same stamp as that of Henry Martyn.

Buchanan was a pastor to the end and his great work on Justification, published in 1866, was written to combat the opposition to the doctrine both by rationalists and ritualists, and to establish true believers in a well-grounded assurance. It was his last work. In 1868, afflicted by deafness and increasing infirmity he retired from the chair of Theology. He died in 1870.

The depths of Justification

If you read one book on justification and the imputed righteousness of God in Christ; read this one, then read Owen's Doctrine of Justification. Buchanan's book is 'easier' to read than Owen's for the use of the English. He brings you through how the OT spoke of Justification and how the Apostles taught it in the NT, how the early church understood it and all along the way - the way justification was misconstrued until today. There is nothing new under the sun; even the doctrinal errors of justification. If you want to understand the depths of what and how God does justify the ungodly and still be just - read this book before all others. To God, and God alone, be the glory.

Buchanan's treatment of the great doctrine of justification sets the bar for all others. It is almost certainly the wine greatest treatment of the topic, covering both the history and biblical basis of The Protestant doctrine comprehensively and convincingly. Buchanan's explanations and arguments are clear and concise. I've read nearly every book on the topic, and while others are very good, this one is superlative and indispensable I'm understanding and defending the truth of the material cause of the Peotestant reformation: justification sola fide!

Excellent Read

The Darkest Dawn is an excellent read. Typical of Tom Goodrich's style, the book puts you "in the moment" with the characters and the characters truly come to life. I just finished reading Team of Rivals by Doris Goodwin, Manhunt by James Swanson and Darkest Dawn by Goodrich. They are all unique and excellent contributions to Lincoln scholarship. Darkest Dawn captures the response to Lincoln's death like no other work I've read. You see how incredibly polarizing the event was and how its timing contributed to incredible anger, anxiety and outrage by both north and south. Top Notch!

Booth assured Lincoln's place in history

He is one of the most recognisable figures in history: The tall, angular frame, the sad half smile, eyes dark, tired and sunken. The last picture of Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the United States, and reproduced here, is that of a man whose race is almost run.

Taken four days before the prominent actor and Southern sympathiser John Wilkes Booth ended his life with a shot to the head, Lincoln seemed ill at ease, the slight blurring around the hands indicating he was unable to keep them still for the time required for the exposure to take effect.

Could he be wondering about the next four years of his presidency, the monumental task of healing the wounds of a civil war he had insisted should be fought? The conflict, in which he had thrown the overwhelming might of the United States at the rebel Confederacy to bring about a difficult and costly victory, was all but over, but as shrewd a man as he would have guessed that the peace was going to be an even more formidable adversary. Did he have the answers?

We shall never know as Booth's dramatic act at Ford's Theatre in Washington relieved Lincoln of that responsibility, leaving him simply as the leader who saved the union. Dying with Southern armies still in the field and the final acts of the war yet to take place, his administration was linked wholly with the conflict. The emotions his assassination unleashed ensured not just his place as a great American president, but his conversion into a secular saint.

As Goodrich points out in his epilogue: "In the stampede to elevate the slain president, his virtues were magnified and his vices diminished until the one became a caricature and the other all but forgotten." The cynic might add: "good career move, Abe."

The author, an historian and storyteller, who has specialised in this brief, dark period in American history, has taken the events of a few weeks of the spring and summer of 1865 and made them live again.

An act of outstanding scholarship, he has amassed hundreds of contemporary sources - biographies, eye-witness accounts, newspaper articles - to the point where he blends his own narrative with the quotations from which he draws, producing compelling descriptions that immerse the reader in the zeitgeist. His passage on the chaos that resulted from a `lying in state' in Philadelphia during Lincoln's cross-country funeral procession is typical.

"Mingled with the normal dull roar of so many thousands were the shrieks of crushed women, the shrill cries of trampled children, and the cursing and shouting of men. Silk hats, bonnets and parasols were smashed flat, dresses were ripped, hoop skirts were broken and mangled, the neatly pinned hair of ladies now fell to their waists in a disheveled mass. Ragged and tattered debris, including destroyed mourning badges and black crepe, littered the ground below."

The book is full of such rich description, including the wild and random acts of vengeance wreaked on anyone who did not show proper respect for the slain president. Any words said against Lincoln in public risked a beating or worse. Lynch law took hold. Even those whose mourning was not considered sincere enough faced the anger of the mob.

In the occupied Confederacy, civilians were forced to decorate their houses in black to honour the man they hated and reviled. Most swallowed their pride and complied, some like Mrs Stuart, hung herself rather than yield to the humiliation.

From the fall of Richmond, which signaled the end of organised resistance in the Confederacy, and Lee's surrender at Appomattox, through the assassination, its aftermath, the funeral procession, the death of Booth and the trial and execution of his associates, Goodrich opens a series of windows on those troubled, turbulent times.

For a while the victorious north, plunged from the pinnacle of joy to the depths of despair, became unhinged. As one witness recalled: "The sorrow and sadness caused...cannot be written; no pen can tell it. Only those who lived in these dreadful days can appreciate the pain we suffered."

Thanks to this book, we can appreciate a little of the anguish experienced by the bloody, war-ravaged nation as, united once more, it wearily resumed the journey towards its ultimate destiny.

The Darkest Dawn

This is simply the best book ever written on the Lincoln assassination. Mr. Goodrich allows you to relive this tragedy in the moment as though it just happened. You find yourself walking amongst the people feeling what they are feeling, thinking what they are thinking, and fully understanding the significance and the impact this American tragedy had on this country then as well as today.
