Très vite adopte, baptise Grenouille (Suisse ou Français, c’est un peu blanc bonnet et bonnet blanc pour les ricains), c’est en acteur qu’il raconte avec force détails et anecdotes la vie d’une Ecurie de course, vue de l’intérieur. Et pas n’importe laquelle, même s’il n’y restera dure qu’un peu plus d’une année, Shelby ayant perdu l’appui financier de Ford. Son histoire ne s’arrête d’ailleurs pas la, puisqu’on le retrouve ensuite a la tête de la Drysumpsystems, société qu’il a crée pour diffuser des carters secs pour les voitures engagées en CanAm, TransAm, NASCAR et Formule 5000. Et il en profite pour grener les souvenirs d’une vie bien remplie aux cotes de pilotes ou préparateurs pour qui il a le plus souvent œuvrer dans l’ombre, ou qu’il a croise sur la piste, car le bonhomme est allé jusqu’au bout de sa passion en devenant, a son tour, pilote, notamment aux les 24 Heures de Daytona en 1975. Fascinant, a ne pas manquer….
