Story is okay.

the story itself was okay. The grammar, punctuation was so bad! It caused me to have to re-read a sentence, time and again. I wonder if it was ever proof read?

Poor translation or bad editing?

The Kindle version is replete with many grammatical errors, a mixture of British English and American English spellings, and the author's continuous use of the word "floor" when really means "the ground." Example: "The horseback rider fell to the floor."
The is a lot of gratuitous violence by the out-laws. The treatment of the children, while appalling and violent, is likely a true description of what many children endured at the time.

I am interested enough to finish this book

This book needs to be edited,not just spellcheck! There is misuse of the words "to/too", and several run-on sentences, and grammatical errors. The title is misleading. I thought it would be more about the Orphan Train, like the book "Orphan Train", and it's not. The storyline is a little disjointed and scattered.
